Orkyx 70's Disco Mix (Part I)

I grow up in the seventies. Dad used to tell that, when I was no more than a few feet from the ground, whenever some music was being played on T.V. or on the radio, I was there following the rhythm with my head and, if I was taken away to go to take my bath, to eat or to go home, I started to cry.

It was the golden age of Disco Music, and it seems that my love-feeling with the style comes from far behind. Nowadays, I still love all those songs, and that’s why I have tried to compile them in this mix. It is not a nostalgic issue; I neither miss that time nor think it was musically better or worse than any other. They are simply great tunes, as many other releases over and over the years. It is just a question of having some musical curiosity.
I hope you enjoy it!

Session 57.

I just happened to mix the first two tunes in this set and from that point, I decided to keep on mixing some other stuff sung in Spanish, resulting in what could be the second part of ¿Habla usted espanol? but with a stronger POP flavour. The bpm is higher than usual in my sets lately, 137.

1. ASTRUD.
2. BRETON ARMADA. De la violencia
3. LA BIEN QUERIDA. El origen del mundo
4. HIDROGENESSE. Disfraz de tigre
5. FANGORIA. Piensa en positivo
6. LA MONJA ENANA. Casa de muñecas

10. GRISES. Parfait (David Van Bylen Bootleg)
11. BATIDA. Alegría

Orkyx Session 54. World Music Mix

I have wanted to do this since a long time ago, but there are so many different styles and so many tunes labelled as World Music, that it was hard to get it all joined within a single session. The final result is here; over an hour with cool sounds which show how music is understood depending on the point of view of different cultures. There could be many other sounds or styles, but on the whole, I think it is a nice sample.

1. USTAD AMJAD ALI KHAN. Madhya Laya Teen Taal
2. ALI KHATTAB. Alejandra
3. LOU PÉREZ. African Fantasy (Joe Claussell Remix)
4. TOIRES. Nabab
5. NILGÜL. Pis Pisla

7. CHEB TAHAR. Ti Sbabi
8. NICOLA CONTE. Bossa Per Due
9. BALLY SAGOO. Noorie
10. BOSSACUCANOVA. Consolaçao
11. DAHMANE EL HARRACHI. Ya Rayah (Sonar Remix)
12. UNKNOWN CASES. Masimbabele (Razoof's Remix)
13. BJÖRK. Tesla (Omar Souleyman Remix)
14. THIEVERY CORPORATION. El pueblo unido (Jeremy Sole Feat. Quantic Remix)
15. DZIHAN & KAMIEN. Just You & I
16. BALLAKÉ SISSOKO & VINCENT SEGAL. Ma-Ma FC
17. MADEKA. Mokote
18. MIGUEL CZACHOWSKI. Mohabbat Ka Khazana (Tangos Qawwali)
