Drum n Bass

     Siempre me ha interesado mucho el Drum'n'Bass, esos ritmos tan desconcertantes cuando los escuchas por primera vez, pero que luego poco a poco se van haciendo un hueco en tu cabeza y les encuentras todo el sentido. Me gusta sobre todo cuando lo mezclan con jazz y no tanto con raggamuffin o similar.

    

     A la hora de pinchar y cuadrar los beats se me hacía muy difícil al principio, creo que requiere un entrenamiento auditivo adicional, aunque tampoco busco la perfección, para eso hay auténticos maestros a los que no aspiro a imitar, lo mio es simplemente explotar la curiosidad musical y poder compartirla gracias a la blogosfera.

    I have always been very interested in Drum'n'Bass, those weird rhythm patterns when you listen to them for the first time, but then, little by little, they get all the sense within your mind. I especially like it when it is mixed with jazz and less with raggamuffin or similar patterns.

     It was very difficult for me to DJ and match the Dnb patterns at the beginning. I think it recquires an additional ear training, anyway I am not looking for perfection, there are some really good masters to perform that, I simply explore my musical curiousity and share it throughout the blogosphere.

Session 13

     Sesión creada para la gente de slowbeats  saludos a DotFive, Oskratch, Lek, Zorton, Ridgeboy, Onicrom, Otomo, Gus... Os recomiendo una visita por sus blogs si quereis oir cosillas verdaderamente interesantes.

    Esto salió en un album virtual donde compartía protagonismo con Zorton, así que como el listón estaba muy alto, intenté cuidar la sesión al máximo, y espero haberlo logrado. Va a 128 bpm y termina con una canción que considero incombustible, que por siempre será de mis favoritas.

     This set was created for all the people at slowbeats  greetings to DotFive, Oskratch, Lek, Zorton, Ridgeboy, Onicrom, Otomo, Gus... I strongly recommend you have a look at their blogs if you want to hear some interesting tunes.

     This was included in a virtual versus DJ set album together with Zorton, so, as the standard was set quite high, I tried to make my best. It runs at 128 bpm, ending with one of my all time favourite songs.

¿Habla usted espanol?

     En esta ocasión decidí hacer una sesión en la que todos los temas estuviesen cantados en lengua española. Intenté que hubiera la máxima variedad posible de estilos y para eso escogí artistas no sólo de España, sino de Argentina, Colombia o Chile. El resultado es más un muestrario (aquí no vale usar el término "sampler" jejeje) que una sesión en sí. Desde luego no están todos los que son, pero al menos disfruté muchísimo creándola.

   I decided to create a session with all the songs sung in Spanish language. I tried to introduce a great variety of styles by choosing artists from Spain, Argentina, Colombia or Chile. The result is more a sampler than a DJ set. I know there are lots of artists missing, but I really had a good time when I mixed it.

Goa

     Nuevo cambio de estilo, esta vez casi 70 minutos de Goa y Trance psicodélico. No es que sea de mis estilos favoritos, pero no está mal de vez en cuando y, como en todo, hay temas interesantes y otros menos.

     Como sin duda muchas personas siguen estos sonidos, pues allá van. He incluido, entre otros, a Astral Projection, Chakomo, Peyote, Cop...

     A new change of style, almost 70 minutes of Goa and Psychedelic Trance. These are not my favourite styles, however, I can recall some very interesting tunes, which are not bad to hear from time to time.

   Acababa de recibir en casita mi flamante Pioneer CMX3000 (sí, como el de la foto), y justo estaba probando, pulsando botón tras botón, jugando con las jog wheels...bueno y ¿por qué no dejar el resultado inmortalizado? La verdad no suelo pinchar así con tanto loop, scratch y todo, pero no está mal de vez en cuando juguetear...

    I have just received my brand new Pioneer CMX3000 (as the one in the picture below). I was testing everything in it, pushing all the buttons and playing with the jog wheels, then I thought: why not getting the result recorded? Actually, this is not my style when DJing, but is not bad some playing from time to time.

     Para hacer honor al título del blog, cambiamos de tercio y nos alejamos de los ritmos 4/4 con una sesión de Downtempo. En las redes p2p este archivo aparece compartido como si fuera un álbum de Thievery Corporation, pero no es así, sólo que incluye un tema de ellos, además de otros de Björk, Tosca, Fangoria & Actibeat, Autechre, Kevin Yost... A ver si os gusta.

    To suit the title of the blog (musical curiousity) we change the style to get rid of the 4/4 patterns with a Downtempo session.
